Come In, the Door Is Open
Everything we have written about for the past two months — the showing up, the honest conversations, the brotherhood of guys who have already solved something you haven’t yet — that all becomes real on June 28th. Delco Dads is hosting its kickoff event at 2SP Brewery in Aston, and we are asking you to walk through the door.
Sunday, June 28th. Noon to 4 p.m. 2SP Brewery, Aston, PA. That is it. That is the whole ask.
Here is what this is not: it is not a seminar. It is not an afternoon of structured vulnerability exercises led by someone with a clipboard. It is fathers – with their families – in Delco, in a good room, with cold beer, getting acquainted with the organization that intends to be part of their lives for a long time. The bar is low. Show up. Introduce yourself to one person you do not know. See what happens.
Here is what this is: the beginning. Every organization has a founding story and ours starts here — not on paper, not in a mission statement, but over a pint in Aston on a Sunday afternoon when a few dozen men decide to help families in need, support our community, and help one another. The conversations that start on June 28th will outlast the afternoon. We know this because we have already seen it happen in smaller rooms, in early planning meetings, in text threads between guys who met once and kept going. That is what this community does when you give it a little oxygen.
If you have been reading along and thinking this sounds like something I need — you are right, and June 28th is where you stop reading and start showing up. Bring a friend. Bring a neighbor. Bring the guy from your kid’s baseball team who always looks like he is carrying something heavy and never says a word about it. He needs this more than he knows, and so do you, and so do we. Delco Dads does not get built without the people in the room.
