The Room Was Full. You Showed Up. So Did Delco.
We did not know exactly what June 28th would look like until it was happening in front of us. And what it looked like was this: fathers, families, kids all having fun at 2SP in Aston on a Sunday afternoon, talking to strangers who did not feel like strangers for very long. That is what we built this for. That is exactly what we got.
Thank you. To every person who registered, drove over, walked in, and gave us an afternoon — you are the reason this organization exists beyond a mission statement and a website. The room was full because you decided it was worth your Sunday. We do not take that lightly.
We came to have a good time, and we also came to do something real. On June 28th, this community raised over $2,000 for three Delco families going through hard times. That money goes directly to people who need it, from a room full of people who chose to give it. That is not a small thing. That is exactly the kind of organization we said we were going to be, and you made it true on day one.
To our sponsors: RVE and Iron League of Philadelphia — you bet on us before we had anything to show you but an idea and a conviction. That means something we will not forget. And to every company that donated prizes for the event — you showed a room full of Delco families that the local business community is paying attention and willing to invest in what we are building here. That generosity was felt.
Now here is what we need from you. If you took photos on the 28th — and we know you did — get them on our Facebook page. This community is just getting started and the record of how it began matters. Post them, tag them, share them. Let Delco see what it looks like when its fathers decide to show up for each other.
July is already moving. So are we. More to come on future events and if you have any ideas on the topic, feel free to let us know!
